Fake download... those are spyware.

Very common on torrent sites. Your run a search on any search engine and the first few recommended links just so happen to be exactly what you searched for, but they'll screw up your computer but good.

It's been out there since January this year. I was talking to Kurt Slep at NAMM, and he was betting me there was NO WAY it was being pirated.

Within 2 links of a google search I had it. 5 months later the employees he tasked to finding it again couldn't find it. I chuckled at the incompetency. Maybe Kurt should put "Must be proficient with google searches" on his employment ads if he's hiring any new privateers.

The Gem Series has yet to be torrented. If it was, it would still be easily found as it would be such a hot item as to have many, many seeds. The only real proof is a link to an actual .tor file. Please provide a link to such and I will heartily agree.

There WAS a SC torrent from a few years back that had a comment stating "Thanks! This torrent is a gem!" as so it would show up in a "Sound Choice Gem Torrent" google search, but it only contained old 8000 series stuff. This was the supposed GEM torrent you found.

Demonoid, Piratebay, iptorrents, all the majors come up empty...and believe me if it existed it would be at ALL of those three.

still seeded. Amazingly this thread has overtaken the google search results, so my guess is this result is buried after months of karaoke torrent discussion elsewhere.

The first clue is the date that torrent was uploaded: 2006-05-11 00:00:00 (5y 3m)
There was no GEM series five years ago. The simple fact this torrent is still around 5 years later underlines my point. If a true GEM series torrent existed, it wouldn't die and disappear.

Clue #2 is the tracklist, provided by the author. All 7000 & 8000 series.

See for yourself: http://rapidshare.com/files/75803744/Tracklist.xls.html

I stand by my original claim.

not the GEM.
i'm not saying it won't happen, but for now the people have had to sign such documentation that they would need to be complete morons to put it up as a torrent.....but then nobody called pirates and their helpers intelligent.

I would not be shocked if some serial number is hidden inside the Gem files, so if it goes online then it would be very easy to find the source.

You know it's from the gem series if the first soundchoice logo is blue.

Although I haven't seen the Gem Series logo SC did have blue logo's on some of their early stuff, I don't remember exactly which ones but I know I've seen it.

Neither. While I have some very old stuff, I don't know if any of the logos are blue... I never really paid attention to them anyway.

The above logo is from the Gem series for illustrative purposes.... and no, I do not have the gem series.

And while there may be a few early SC songs with blue logo's, they certainly did not say "Pro Series".

I've got absolutely nothing to gain whether the Gem series has been pirated or not- no motive to make stuff up., means nothing to me.

That being said, I have SEEN at least three hosts with pirated Gem sets.

Don't care. Adds nothing / detracts nothing from debates. Just making an observation.

So Joe, who are they? IF these mystery hosts truly have & are using pirated GEM sets, it's cut & dried they they are 100% stolen & illegal. There is no grey area here.

You are against piracy, right?

I'm well aware that you don't care. Specifically as it relates to piracy and its effect on SC.

Would you be so gracious as to substantiate your claim without directly naming the host/KJ's that you've SEEN in possession of or using pirated GEM series tracks? How about just the town or the venues in which you witnessed this? Just a little info to go on so that your claim can be verified without any overt action on your part?

Or does your bias allow you to justify standing idly by as others in your own area (I'm assuming) do more damage to the industry and subsequently to the honest, hard working people like you and me and anyone else who has a legitimate stake?

You do realize that GEM series have been sold to more than just the handful of people that communicate on the internet forums, right? What you are claiming here could have a damaging effect on many, many more people who are struggling to get by, and not just within your circle of influence. They don't deserve to have their investment devalued or their competition given an illegal/unfair advantage any more than you do.
