WTF is Compuhost's unlock key combo? Somehow I keep hitting the combo inadvertantly and having to restart the program to undo it! Its pissing me off as I can't find in "help".

Does help ever help anyone... jeezup H Fing Kay-rist!

Which version are you running? I am running the last version before 1.8 and have not run into it. Are you pulling the dongle out of the computer while Compuhost is running?

Wow, didn't know there was a software lock. I can find nothing in the manual or software itself to indicate what the key chord could be. Are you sure it's a Compuhost feature and not a laptop feature?

This feature was added in 1.75 at the request of several users on their forums. It is part of the Global Hotkey Support. (That Siglos doesn't even offer!!!)

The default key sequence is CTRL-ALT-L

To change the key sequence, or disable it entirely, follow these steps (copied from the User's Manual) and change the LockDownKey to your liking. To disable it just remiove the current entry...

Configuring your Global HotKeys
1. With a Text Editor (ie: Notepad) open the "globalkeys.ini" file found in the CompuHost Program Folder (default: \Program Files\CompuHost).
2. READ the Instructions and WARNINGS provided at the top of the globalkeys.ini file.
3. Select ONLY the Keylabels listed, AVOIDING the "Reserved Keylabels"!
4. Carefully adhere to the format "Function=KeyLabel" while editing the desired Function. NO Spaces!
5. Save the globalkeys.ini back to the original location.
6 Restart CompuHost in order for the changes to take effect

That's because it isn't a problem. It's a feature so you can walk away from your machine without somebody messing with it.

The globalkeys.ini file allows you to setup user configurable "hot key" sequences for many of the program controls. A little searching of the file found this: "LockDownKey=CtrlAltL"

Change it to something else or "LockDownKey=" and you wont be able to lock the program any longer.

But has anybody answered the question -- what is the default *unlock* key? Ctrl-Alt-U?

I just fired it up and checked -- it is the same as the lock key combo, Ctrl-Alt-L.

As you've already found, it's a toggle, same key sequence for on and off.

Thank you for that guys... it was driving me bonkers! I don't know how I've been hitting it by accident, but when you're in the middle of a show and you lock up the program its a bit frustrating.

I looked and looked in the manual and couldn't find it, and I'm not that up on the technical details of the software like you all are... at least for changing around the hot keys anyway.

Good topic. It also happened to me about a month ago. I had no idea why. I still find it hard to believe that I hit that combination of keys by mistake. At least now I know how to unlock it without shutting the program down.

I'd add but one extra instruction to this.

First, before anything else, save a copy of the .ini file as something like globalkeys.inx so that you can revert to the original by changing the 'x' to an 'i', a simple fix in case you mess up and don't heed the warnings!

If you're on a laptop you're rolling your left finger onto the ctrl+alt why trying to type a capital L.
