I have a group that are in a church choir. They do everything from musicals - ballads - country- all of it. Same goes for the theater actors. I have professional singers in blues bands that do blues and some soul. Retired individuals that do Sinatra, Elvis, God Bless Johnny, Neil Diamond, Orbison, Andy Williams, Englebert, etc. Strictly Rock singers, strictly Rap, strictly you name it. And they are all at the same venue. To a person they hoot and holler for everyone. Really a joy venue that I look forward to every weekend. Some I believe may even be investigators, hah. Heavy metal singers. I have one that does a backing track (no words) I purchased by Danzig - Mother. Sounds like Glen Danzig. An oriental/Pacific Islander who sounds like Willie, no joke. Retired Elvis impersonator form Vegas. He even looks like Elvis only 6'4" and lean. Karaoke hosts come in.

As for as tracks to request - anything goes well here on the Front Range.

I want Danzig- Mother with the words. I wish I could get SC8530 and have been looking for over a year to no avail. Maybe KSF could get that in production. I have requests from others for it but balk when I tell them the only one I have is a blank screen backing track. One person tried it with a smart phone for lyrics and that worked but the audience wants to follow along.

I do a Bryan Adams - Your Underwear to a backing track. I wish that was an MP3+G, also.

I have noticed the requests for Sound of Silence by Disturbed and just got the big fat DENIED for use from the publisher. That would explain why KV is only offering the audio. We will be releasing the following 4 songs in the next week:

Mirror Mirror - Def Leppard
Saturday Night (High & Dry) - Def Leppard
Tonight - Def Leppard
Alcoholic - Common Kings

Lots more to come!

Michael

Simon & Garfunkel were the original writers, which would explain it!

I am so tired of these publishers and their BS attitude towards Karaoke!!
For those that want to sing it, Disturbed Style, take the original version, raise it three, then slow it down as much as your program will allow. Karma can bring the tempo down 20. Works perfectly. The instrumentation is off, BUT, it still comes out sounding pretty good.

It's not always the publisher only, often the artist has direct control.

It is such a foolish position. Especially since there aren't that many outlets for music, like there used to be. Radio is a joke now. I remember when radio was the great medium for music exposure. You have classic rock bands that put out new music, and have no place for it to be played. You would think that artists would APPRECIATE any exposure they could get.

Yes, in this case it - Paul Simon denies it...

I don't know why more people don't take the time to learn how to make their own karaoke tracks. If Paul Simon doesn't want to let a big karaoke producer make a karaoke track for a song; that is his right and if the big karaoke company goes ahead and makes it anyway, they could be sued for big money. On the other hand; if a single Karaoke Host goes ahead and creates a karaoke track of that song and it is only used at his own show, what are the odds that Paul Simon would find that needle in a haystack and decide to prosecute a guy who made the song and never sold a single copy of it to anyone else? I don't think that anyone is out to get the karaoke enthusiast who just wants to sing his favorite song. It's when profits become a reality is when people want their piece of the action.

I wouldn't have the first clue how to make a karaoke song. I certainly would not want to make some midi-laden piece of crap. As for Paul Simon, someone should slap him upside the head, along with Adele and all the other "no flies" that are artist asserted.

I'm not talking about making tracks with lousy backing tracks. I'm talking about buying a good backing track from karaoke version and making your own graphics for the song. Personally, I don't like the way that karaoke version makes their graphics so any homemade version would probably be at least as good as what they would release if they were allowed to. There are some really good tutorials out there that teach you how to use Karaoke Builder Studio to make your own karaoke files. The more of them you make, the better they get. First thing is what are the odds that Paul Simon will wander into your show and secondly, what are the odds that your one homemade song of his will be sung while he's there? Making your own karaoke tracks can be a very satisfying thing. Your customers would also love it when you made a song just for them that they couldn't sing at "the other guys" show.

LOTS of desireable instrumental songs without graphics are made with real instruments and musicians that are not MIDI nade junk through Karaoke Version and other professional backing track/instrumental sites.

just like anything else; the more you do it, the better you get at it. It took me over 2 hours to make a good karaoke track when I first tried to do it. Now, I can probably get one done in less than an hour. Some times you get a song where the lyrics are sung really fast and that can add some time to the process but the average song can be done fairly easily once you get the hang of it. Some people really enjoy hearing a song at karaoke that nobody else ever sings instead of hearing the same songs week after week as if you're just playing the juke box.
