To all our loyal customers and fans:

Chartbuster Karaoke is proud to announce the reintroduction of our artist series of discs. We’re very excited about them, as they are some of the hottest names in the business, and we think you will be too.

We will be releasing those new discs in the upcoming weeks, so watch for the announcement here.

We have another big announcement coming soon, one that will change the way you think about karaoke forever.

Stay tuned...

I'm certainly not trying to be a wet blanket on Chartbuster's announcement of new products or programs however.....

Is it permissible to use this forum to announce new products/features with the items that I might sell as well?

Just want to keep things on a "level playing field" since that is brought up so often here and I've been very diligent about not spamming this board for sales or pre-sales of my offerings.

I'm wondering (honestly) where that line is drawn?....

As any manufacturer has an equal opportunity to post new developments on here, I find it a help rather than offensive. People post discs for sale all of the time.

Certainly they do... but there is a very large distinction between a KJ posting a list of extra discs for a one-time sale and a manufacturer posting a "teaser" of products they sell all year long.

Karaokescene is funded by advertising dollars from suppliers that sell products on a regular basis. Just look to the left on your screen and you'll see a healthy list of them...

I see:
Ace Karaoke
Aria Karaoke Pro
KaraokeDownloads.CA
Latshaw systems
Magic Mic
Power Karaoke
ProSound
Relocation Specialists
Vocopro
Proactive (skin cleanser)
Check 'n Go...
etc.

What I don't see is any of them using the forums' discussion threads as a direct and free advertising medium for "upcoming secret announcements."

So it is somewhat confusing on where that line is drawn.... I'm simply wondering where the line is...

Or someone pushing kiosk programs, songbook designers or something to that effect or new texting type programs, we'd have to stop all of that too then. I wouldn't worry about it!

Then are you saying it's acceptable?

Lonnie,

I'm not "selling texting type" programs.. that was a legitimate thread about marketing your karaoke services through new forms of media... and these types of services are already being used by other members here...

I don't "sell songbook designers" either... what did that mean?

How about the club posters?

And I do "use" a kiosk program.... but I don't post regularly of its functions or any "secret teaser announcements" I'm about to make either. I do post when there are misconceptions of the validity of a kiosk system such as; "lack of interaction" with patrons or "long lines of angry singers" or even that "you can't browse"... And that includes ANY kiosk system, not just the one I do sell....

I'm simply asking a legitimate question...

Until it is told to stop otherwise from higher up, I see nothing wrong with her posts. There were no actual links or prices involved, just a heads up to let us know whats going on. In this manner it would be no different than someone NOT from CB posting the same exact info stating - "Hey here is the latest with CB" which happens here everyday. I guess i'm just as guilty for recently posting direct links to discs on sale from a place not an advertiser as well.
Sunfly posts what 'new releases' are coming out each month for a couple years now. Never heard you say a word about that.
And yes you have pushed your product(s), no i'm not going to seek out each time. Especially the kiosk - in almost every 'book making' thread in which you always chime in about not needing/using books and ask this person about it, in which direct links have been posted before. We don't question that, don't question this.

Then why bring it up? There is no direct advertising in the post itself, just saying "hey stay tuned for some exciting things". Just because it came directly from CB shouldn't matter. I'd rather hear something like that direct rather than being told to a third party to possibly post misinformation.

"Suavecito" - Malo is available from Karaoke Version and the version is very good. They actually did the long 6 minute version.

Sound Choice did THREE songs from Tower Of Power: "So Very Hard To Go", "What Is Hip" & "You're Still A Young Man". The good news is that they are STILL available at the custom disc site.

I don't mind anyone posting about anything that people might be interested in using. If Chip. or anyone else, was selling discs or songs that no one else was making; I'd like to know what songs they were. I wish Chartbuster would have just said what was coming. I don't like being "teased". I always check out the Chartbuster web site looking to see what new songs might be coming soon but they never seem to have anything there. I buy a lot of tracks from Karaoke version and it would be nice to know if Chartbuster or Pop Hits Monthly Nashville was going to be making the same song within a few weeks. I'd much rather buy the disc from one of them than have to go through the trouble of making my own CDG file. Unfortunately, there have been many songs that I had to make my own CDG file for because the lyric swipes on CB and PHM tracks these days leave a lot to be desired; especially on up tempo songs. The lyrics just don't come up on the screen quickly enough for people who don't memorize lyrics. I have heard that some karaoke software programs have a way to adjust for that problem but I don't have that option available to me. Many times I just buy the instrumental track for the one song that I want, from any given disc, from I-Tunes and make the CDG file myself. If the graphics were done properly, I would just buy the entire CB disc, but if I have to re do the graphics files anyway. I might as well just buy th etrack that I plan on singing. I have plenty of Sound Choice Spotlight discs that I paid $30 for just to get one song. Thank god those days are over.

I'm waiting for this:

"We have another big announcement coming soon, one that will change the way you think about karaoke forever.

Stay tuned..."

Sounds interesting . . .

i don't find it very exciting, if it were new disc's with "NEW" music it would be great.
but just previously released music compiled into artist disc's just doesn't excite me.

give us something to be excited about, like new music!

I don't think they have announced what it is "that will change the way you think about karaoke forever" yet. I wish they would . . .

I can understand that they might be very busy, but to come here and post that they are going to change the way Karaoke is forever is a pretty big statement and then to say nothing about it afterwards?

And then their website vanishes?

This website is a great way to reach so many people involved in the Karaoke field. I would think they could take 5 minutes from their busy day to just post a short message letting folks know what's going on with them. Better than just letting rumors get started and speculation about their company and whether they're in business, out of business or???

I know if I had just spent a pile of money on their products I would be a bit concerned. With such a convenient and easy way to communicate with the outside world at their fingertips you would think they would take advantage of it.

Yup....I just had an email exchange with Greg Taylor. Same notification. He indicated that there would be a transition and more detailed information that would be announced. No timeline for it though.
