I recently tried to complain about a seller selling ebooks,
that worded it such that you thaught you were buying a laptop.
You know the score... making contact is impossible.
I was so furious, I posted in the forum.
The seller was so obviously conning people, making over £1000 a week for an email.
ebay picked up on my post and gave me a warning.
The seller is still making a fortune on ebay.

Ok I know a buyer sometimes needs to read between the lines,
but all the bidders were newbies with foreign sounding names.
They cant read between the lines.

Does that happen where you are...

I simply find it imoral behaviour.

jerry12x,

I've been dealing with e-Bay for many years and have spent mula money.  I have as yet to ever gotten "burned."  Don't take this wrong but common sense has to play a large part in buying anything.  I looked at the listing and without your warning I could tell this is something to stay away from.  This is directly from the listing:

"This auction is for an E-BOOK.  The pictures are for illustration purpose only. Please read the description carefully and ask for any questions before buying. When you buy it means you agree that you have read the auction properly and understood.
No refunds for misinterpretation of, or failure to read auction listing. This Auction will be delivered via email. "

I also don't do business with anyone who has got at least a double digit score and a rating of 97% or higher.

Kelly

Kelly. Totally egree with you.
Where the buyer has the upper hand is that some people think that
Notebook... Ebook... same thing isnt it.
So When you stick
Genuine Sony Vaio laptop (why, where has that come from)
into the equation.

Ok it is not illegal,
Did you happen to notice the feedback

I have not received my laptop. audoire2007

BUYER BEWARE, espically on eaby.

Yeah the description is a bit deceiving, but if you actually read all the description you should know what you are getting.  Also if you look at the people that left NEG feedback, for two of them this was their first purchase on EABY and the other has made only 4 purchases.  Newbies (and everyone) should read read read before bidding.  And seriously, a laptop for £35.00, that should send up a RED flag to everyone.  But there is always someone looking to get something for free (well almost free).

I dunno if it is a myth or not, but back when the X-BOX first was released there was a persons that was selling X-BOX boxes.  The title read something like "X-BOX BOX for sale N/R"  And had a pic of the box the X-BOX came in.  The description specifically said this auction is for a BOX that the X-BOX came in.  There is no game console(sp?).  Still the bids got ran up because of a frenzy for people to be the first on their block to get an X-BOX.

And another on I actually saw.  I am a part time model railroader, and was on a couple board about model railroading.  Anyway someone pointed out an auction for some HO Scale figurines that were nude sunbathers.  The figurine were listed in the model railroad section and cross listed in a collectiable figure section.  The bidding went nuts between about 6 people, and finally ended up selling for $80.  The killer is that you could buy these new on the net for $30.

The highest price I saw was £86 somewhere round $154.
Many are over £50.
Its simply too much to pay for being uneducated.

Ask yourself any of you.

Its rich pickings... Why arnt you doing it.

I'm a huge ebay buyer and sell stuff occassionally.

He's selling Ebooks...  and yeah, it's decieving.

Like as mentioned earlier, if it sounds too good to be true, chances are it IS!

I've only gotten burned once before on Ebay, and that was from a local seller! Stupid ninny sent me a sewing machine with little packing, and it came damaged. I didn't get insurance, and that was their sole defense! They wanted to blame the post office... where I pointed out in pictures how the packing they packed it in was no where near adequate.

I eventually had to take my $80 and just swallow it as a hard lesson earned. What frustrated me was I wanted to go pick it up to avoid damage...

Important thing with Ebay is scrutinize description of items ALWAYS (read EVERY WORD), ask questions, if a seller doesn't respond, this is a good indication the seller isn't someone you should deal with.  MAKE certain NEVER to assume S&H is going to be reasonable, in fact make certain NEVER to assume ANYTHING. I'm ONLY a buyer on Ebay,  while I've never gotten burnt, I've not been satisfied several times.  IE...  Seller sold me a few wrenches stating "Snap-on" brand,  wrenches were "Bluepoint", (a brand made by Snap-on).  Seller sold me a sony cassette deck as "mint condition",  Cassette deck was FAR from "good condition",  (half the screws in the chassis were gone too)....  BUT,  I didn't complain,  I attempted to work it out realizing that these "power sellers" or shooting star sellers (VERY high favorable feedback percentage profile given NUMEROUS past transactions) would be willing to work things out.  As Twansenne said, Ebay IS buyer beware which might mean little more that "SCRUTINIZE" item description, S&H costs, and sellers profile ALWAYS prior to bidding.  Also ALWAYS attempt to work things out amicably prior to leaving neutral or negative feedback, unfortuneately it's sort've a tacit way about Ebay...meaning Often a belicose or even defensive attitude (even a neutral premature feedback) begets a Negative as a response.  BE VERY careful when bidding on items such as computers too, or any electronics item.. There's alot that can go wrong with these things, and of course, never wire money Western Union to a seller who's willing to "cut a deal" off've Ebay in exchange for "quick cash",  Alot of sudden NARU's fall off the face of the earth.. KNOW the seller, make certain the sellers have a past history and likely aren't about to disappear from the face of the earth...  and often-times it's far better to pay a few extra $$$ for POMG from a large reputable business you know, where the seller will issue a call-tag if you aren't happy with the item, rather than you having to pay return shipping of $60 plus the restocking fee on an item that arrived defective... Never assume... You can assume with a huge company that has a liberal return policy such and backs up the item they sell with some warantee... Not a small Ebay seller you do not know..

OR,  they all could've been the seller, or seller's neighbor shill bidding  LMAO

You buy a lot on Ebay Jerry.  Didn't you say you purchase defective computers to fix up or something similar ?   You know the scoop,  A LOT of tricky stuff goes on there..

btw,  Did New Jersey ever arrive ?  I still haven't gotten feedback from you.

Sorry Steven,
When I read your post, the bottom part wasnt displayed.
New Jersey is a problem. I have raised a dispute with Paypal.

Yes I buy Laptops. I check out other stuff to see if the seller
could be a dealer. Wont touch them.
They will put all faulty parts together and sell untested.
So far I am well on top. A few incidents. Not everyone is truthful.
I can go days not finding something to buy.

Thing is steven. Reading the forums, I so often see someone ripped off
who will never buy off ebay again.
These Con artists are ruining it for genuine sellers.
I wont sell off ebay. I use the papers.
For me the buyer has to see exactly what they are getting.

LMAO ,  Love the Avatar Jerry !

Yep,  Based on the enormity of Ebay, there are some problems. BUT,  many fabulous sellers too !  In fact, when I was a volunteer in the community rooms, It was the buyers that really sickened me much of the time, some of the sellers must be God-like in order to endure some of the abuse handed to them by some of the unreasonable buyers in that venue.. I have a great deal of respect for sellers that can hang in such an environment, you REALLY need to like people to do-so,,, I'd go postal.... As for the buyers,  we are sort've at more of an advantage, because it
s easy to size up the high volume sellers based upon track record to date..  Some buyers have taken chances however,  somebody here in fact last year...  "Chuck" (I think) bought a few Shure SM-58's off've a foreign seller, I'd never have bid on this seller's stuff,  I would've predicted Chuck never even would've received this Microphone,  or was it Singing Squid that took the chance ??  (don't recall for sure).. This was the type of situation where personally I thought (as I'm sure a few others thought as well),  "they saw you coming Chuck"... HOWEVER,  Chuck did quite well, received the microphone, got it at a VERY good price, and it was a Shure SM-58 that worked (I think it was NIB too).. SO sometimes we gambles and take chances, we all do... One never knows... Calculated risk I suppose goes along with some that get the best deals on obscure items...  If a shooting star seller with a 99.8 positive feedback rating sells a popular item for a REALLY fabulously low price, it'll be tough to get regardless of an individuals sniping ability, many will be bidding because it's low risk.  I didn't read details of  your transaction yet Jerry,  I'll go read it, and try to see what I think... I'm not judging since I haven't a clue what's what here.... I just know from personal experience one must always comb thru description extremely carefully.. and sometimes even the best sellers screw up... not sure about your case however... Need to check that out out've curiousity. One thing I do know, is A LOT of closing items I've seen I've been VERY tempted to grab impulsively, (which means I won't have time to read everything), I will not do anything spontaneously on Ebay,  it's not a smart move.. Might make the difference between a Hallmark ornament of the Harley, and the actual Bike. (smallest print)

She is not just better looking than me...
She can sing better too.
