If you are going to remove, it's better to take the time & go through the dups & determine the best version.  A program may not take that into consideration & just delete the first version it sees maybe leaving the worst Nu-Tech version over the hottest Sound Choice version.

In addition to lonman's comments, to do it manualy, you may not want to delete all versions of a song, just the crappy ones.

I myself am in the process of removing "BAD" versions of dupes.  I use a script in EXCELL that finds the dupes by filename from a songlits that Sax&Dotty's generates of all my karaoke songs.

It's no going to really reduce the size of the hard drive needed.   If there was a way to designate the best version, that would be OK.   Or just put the best musical version in the song book.

You will also need to verify that each song file, actually matches the song title.

Ok thanks.  I Just thought maybe there was a program to pick out the dupe songs to make it easy to remove them rather than go search my hd... LMAO

There are numerous utilities out there that will search your HDD for duplicates, not just file name, but also bit size, so it will show you identical files, doing a true byte by byte comparison. No software will find good/bad versions, but only exact versions.
