This seems to be such a simple thing, but it has me pulling my hair out.
I've been using rechargable batteries for my wireless mic, but my charger bites.
I end up buying batteries all the time. Can you guys give me the name of the best type of rechargable batteries and a good charger. Arrggg!

I was told by my salesman not to use rechargeable batteries for the mikes.

I buy my batteries at Sam's.

Regular batteries _______________
                                                      -----------
                                                                   -----------
                                                                                  -----------

Rechargeables--------------------------------------
                                                                       -
                                                                        -
                                                                         -
                                                                          -
                                                                           -

Then the rechargeables get memory and keep lasting less and less.

He sells musical equipment, not batteries.  So he must have a good reason for it.

If you want to use rechargeable, use Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH).  They don't keep a memory like the old NICAD ones do.  They are ideal for wireless mics.  NOT for flashlights or emergency equipment that rarely get's used.  They should last as long as alkalines do (regular batteries) and you should see about 400 to 500 recharges out of them before replacing.  When they get close to going down, they will go faster than alkalines.  Just keep an eye on your meter.

These batts work well, just always have a 2nd charged at all times.  Figure you may replace them maybe every 6 months to a year.

Good point Lonman.  ie. Two mics that take two AA's.  Get a total of 8 batteries and bring the charger with you to the show.  Of course if you use wired mics you don't have to pay for batteries!  Then you can save up and afford to buy  a real good expensive wired mic.  Right??? LOL

(I have both and each has it's merits.)  Reagardless what Biggod says.  OPPS!  Spelled his name wrong.

Well actually I do use $50 mic cords - why, lifetime warranty.  Everytime it goes bad, I take it back to the store & exchange for a new one - no $$ out of my pocket.  Bought 4 of them in '98 after I used to buy just the cheap cords, thinking they were cheap enough to replace, after replacing so many over the years, I looked at the lifetime guarantee cords, haven't paid for a 'replacement' mic cord since.

I use those cords also. I used Monster for a while, but I don't like how they have bigger ends. It makes it hard to get the mics in and out of the holders. When I had problems with the monster cables I brought them back to guitar center and they replaced them with Mogami.

Monster cables I think are over rated. I had 2 that had mechanical problems.

If I remember correctly using recharable batteries voids the warrenty on Shure Microphones. The problem is that the voltage output of the battery decreases after about 5 charges.

I buy my batteries at sams club I get 10  - 9 volts for $15 and 24 AA's for $14

All of my newer mics use 2 AA's they seem to last much longer than the 9 volt older models. I get 4 or more shows out of the aa mics, 2 shows out of the 9 volt mics.

I have not had good luck either on the rechargables.

I purchase my batteries from Walgreens .....9V Alkaline 10 pack = $9.99
they are the walgreens brand and I have found that they have the same performance as Duracell batteries

I watch for sales and they go on sale 3 times a year for $4.99 and then I buy all they have.

I use Energizer 2,500 Mili Amp rechargeable batteries and love them.  The higher mili amp batteries will give you more power then the cheaper 1,800 or 2,200 mili amp batteries out there.  I also bought a charger that recharges the batteries in only 15 minutes.  It has a cooling fan that blows under the batteries to cool them due to the rapid recharge.  True that when a rechargeable battery fully discharges....it is like flipping a light switch where as a normal battery slow decreases in the voltage output.  I've had no problems with what I use and if a microphone goes down....you can play a few dance tunes and have it fully recharged in 15 minutes if you don't have any back up batteries on hand.[glow=darkorchid][/glow]
